Yes! We have access to a very large pool of invigilators, so as long as you give us 6 days notice, you can take your exam on any day of the week (including Saturdays and Sundays) and any time (including evenings) There is no extra cost for taking your exam at the weekend.
Complete the booking form to tell us when you would like to take the exam. We will then send you a payment link, and book in your exam. We will then send you a link to a mock exam and then your examiner will get in touch with you, and provide you with login details so you can access the Open Awards Exam system.

The Examiner will send you a link on teams or zoom, and they will provide you access to the webpage where you login to take your exam. You will be required to take your exam in a room where you will not be disturbed, and your examiner will ask you to give them a tour of the room using your camera. They will ask you to show your ID as it is important you can prove who you are, as Functional Skills is equivalent to a GCSE. Once all those steps have taken place, you will begin your exam on the Open Awards dedicated exam website.
You can use blank paper to do working out, and you can use a non-scientific calculator for the calculator part of the exam.
You can attempt the functional skills exams as many times as necessary, but you should only attempt the exam if you feel able to score at least 60% on the mock exam.
No problem at all. As long as you give us at least 6 days notice, we can change the time and date free of charge.
It takes approximately 16 days for the Open Awards examiners to mark your exams, and we will let you know your result as soon as it it is released to us. You will immediately receive an email containing an e-certificate, and then your paper certificate will follow in the post.
We recommend following the MathsHub functional skills course that you can access by going to www.MathsHub.co.uk Our course teaches everything you need to know to prepare you for the exam. Alternatively, if you have followed another course with an approved provider or college, and you are able to score at least 60% on the mock exam, you should feel confident to pass your functional skills exam.
